Heroes with Imperium-Wide fame?

When you cross out the Emperor and the Primarchs....

Do any heroes of the Imperium have fame that spreads all the Segmentums to at the very least the high resource/high tech worlds?

Certain candidates stick out in my head. Sebastian Thor's story is probably one of those that gets passed around because he had such a powerful effect ont he Imperium as we know it.

I'm assuming someone like Lord Macharius because well... he probably lead the most successful Crusade in Imperial history that wasn't drummed up by Big E and Sons.

Ciaphas Cain has good publishing deal so that's taken care of.

But how far does the Fame of someone like Comissar Yarrick or Creed spread for instance?

And can you think of any others?

I will guess with Commander Dante of the Blood Angels. He has been around a long time to gain a reputation and being a golden astartes which can sort of fly via jump pack he is the poster boy for the Angels of Death descending to smite Humanity's foes.

Also been involved in some very big wars e.g. Armageddon.

The well-known ones are already listed,
so maybe think about how long Imperium-Wide-Fame will last?
You got 10.000 years.

The BRB of 3rd had a nice start with the Imperial palace at the first pages. At page 6-7 , Eternity Gate, an Officer is honored with a visit to Holy Terra and marches for miles along a Wood of Banners and countless battle scenes on the Walls, all of them dedicated to great Heroes.
How many Names will stand the test of time ? How many were famous and still forgotten after millenia?

Heroes with Imperium-Wide fame?

I am not actually that sure about whether Imperial citizens will know about heroes from across the Galaxy, I am sure most planets in the Eastern Fringe won't even know what Armageddon is let alone who the Hero of Armageddon is.

This is actually portrayed in WoM when the people of Fenris describe the Space Wolves as angels who decend from the heavens to take the strongest of their kind into the fold, not understanding what the Imperium is or what the Space Wolves fight for. Of course the Fenrisians aren't known for their technological prowess or understanding of astronamy but it makes me wonder if a lot of worlds are like this: not knowing/caring about any world outside of their own system (besides holy Terra of course) or at least only vagely be aware that the 'Imperium' that runs everything deals with millions of worlds.

Or, think of it like this: will an Imperial citizen be that bothered about a conflict happening on a world within it's own system if there is no immediate threat (knowing that there are people on this planet who are unaware/not caring about conflicts happening on their own world)? If not, then how bothered would they be about stories (or even just legends) about a warrior who fights on worlds many systems away?

This of course is talking about the general population as I am sure those in charge are aware of conflicts going on all over the Galaxy.

Also, if you think that most of these legands are past along by IG/SM who fight in these conflicts would the stories ever reach many worlds? The SM would most likely never associate with the general population and IG are most likely to die before they ever get to go back home (*Comissar sniggers*) and tell the story.

Heroes with Imperium-Wide fame?

I think a name like Yarrick and Creed would be known by the majority of Imperial Governors. As for the general population, I think it would depend on the world, I could imagine a civilised world may get regular news casts of what is going on in the imperium, a bit like we get world news. It wont detail every small boarder war, but a system wide invasion somewhere in the Imperium would at least get a brief mention.

Something like the victory at Armageddon might get a lot of press as a form of propaganda - uncountable xeno barbarians attacked but our brave defenders of the Astra Millitarum stood firm in the face of these overwhelming numbers and defeated them.

In such instances, Yarrack might become a brief poster image for the Astra Millitarum.

The average citizen hearing about this on such a world a couple of years later might be 'Armageddon, yes I remember hearing something about that a while ago, I think we won, didn't we? And oh yes, the leader was that guy, you know the one in the Black hat and the bionic eye, you know the one I'm talking about, Yessus, yarrus, something like that.'

Real World Level of Tech or Better. So a place like Terra or Ultramar for instance.. Like you said, worlds that are in fact receiving broadcasts and information due to the fact that they are equipped to know what's going on in the rest of the Imperium.

I can see the propagnada angle being quite useful to the IG, after all having heroic tales to boost recruitment on worlds helps - and what sounds better than a heroic human being whose accomplishments you can nudge and embellish a little.

By this line of logic though, it seems that IG heroes would be more likely to have some sort of cache in the general population and even amongst the Elite than say an SM hero... unless its something akin to a Primarch of course...
