Test of Honour: New Samurai game from Warlord Games (free PDF download of basic rules)

Warlord Games is releasing a game to go with the samurai miniatures they acquired from Wargames Factory. You can download the basic rules for free now, but like with the zombie game, some of the rules are on cards, and in a separate campaign rules book, that come with the boxed game. See the page linked for an overview of the rules and a link to the download: http://www.warlordgames.com/test-of-honour-gameplay-free-pdf

The boxed game includes a Battle Guide that walks you through your first game using just a handful of models on each side. This then becomes the start of a series of six linked scenarios telling a tale of bitter clan rivalry, betrayal and revenge, adding more troops, extra rules and knock-on effects for the winner and loser of each battle.
Following this you can easily come up with your own adventures to continue the story. There are also Quest cards included across the various expansion sets that present challenges to complete over the course of a few games, such as winning battles without using any Dishonour or gaining a certain combination of skills.

Hrm.

I'm interested, especially if the game's flow is better than Ronin's.

I don't like the fact that they have tokens for activations, but then cards for everything else. An deck of activation cards would have been simpler.

So a samurai's skill in-game depends on random dice-roll combos and random fate-token card draws.

The blind draw and honour/dishonour system seem like they add a bit of depth, but I wonder if it's enough not to be cancelled out by the above.
