Basing directly on cork.

Hey!
I've been looking for an answer to this all over the place, but haven't found an answer yet, so I'll try here

I want to make a large "display base" for my yncarne and have a round cork board thats the perfect size. It is relatively thick, but has some flex to it. So my question is if I used the cork as a base, would that work fine? I'm worried that it might warp after a while with all the glue and paint on it.
I know it's a pretty basic question, but I'd appreciate if someone could help me Thanks!

Just cork by itself? You want a baseboard or something under it otherwise it'll probably break and warp over time.

Basing directly on cork.

Cork is absorptive and organic and will warp and crumble over time. If you seal it up with something like water and PVA, it will strengthen it, but most cork is cut pretty thin and not that strong. I would definitely suggest using an undermount base to strengthen it. Additionally, you can cut holes for your minis so that they are countersunk into the base and rest on the undermount portion.

I use cork a lot actually. I glue it down with super glue, but once that has dried I always seal it with watered down PVA as jmurph also suggested.
