Grav-Gun Glow Help

Hey Dakka,

Does anyone have any guides or tips on how to get a good grav gun glow effect for Grav guns and Grav cannons? I would be interested in a nice green glow rather than a blue like I do for my plasma guns.

Re:Grav-Gun Glow Help

First prime and paint the gun in silver/metallic color of your choice. Basically you want to finish painting your weapon before you start working on the glow effect.

Once gun is finished, cover the plasma part with Ultramarine Blue. (or color of your choice). As always for the best effect thin out the paint and do several layers.
When paint is dry, use a lighter blue color and drybrush the plasma part. Instead of longer and broader strokes, you have to use small and quick movements, like when you are sponging a piece. (Bit different drybrushing technique).

Depending on how heavy you want to go with source lighting, dry brush the parts of the weapon closest to the plasma part. Work your way to the lighter colors, (If you start with ultramarine, just keep adding brighter/lighter colors to the pallet). It all depends on the intensity of brightness you want to reach.

Paints from Vallejo Game range have brighter/more vivid pigments which I find nice for source lightning and lightning effects.
Hope this helped.

How glowing do you want it? Object source reflecting off the armour, or more subtle?

I recently did these for my gaming army, but I suspect your looking for a different effect

No I don't have an airbursh. That was just done by building up glazes (you cant see the side of the gun), and that is how I would go about a glow effect
