Is blu tack... double sided tape... then put a paperclip into a cork or something ... and secure that once i'm done painting it so it doesnt tip over or what..

CA glue and glue the part to a paper clip. The paper clip will snap off with gentle pressure and the crazy glue is easy to clean off. Blue tac or tape won't hold it well enough.
