1 - Has the lore progressed ?

2 - I play Tau and have noticed there are new units, are they any good and where do i find the rules ?

3 - 30k Sons of Horus is the other army i play, have there been any major updates to FWs 30k rules etc ?

4 - Which books do i need to buy to continue playing the game as of now (i have the Tau Codex, first 3 HH books and SM codex)

5 - If there are any Kiwis in the audience who live in or around Wellington give me a yell for a game

Allow me to chime in.

1.) The lore is actually progressing with the Gathering Storm 1, 2, and 3 books now released. I won't spoil it for you but things are getting VERY interesting.

2.) New units are in the most updated Tau codex with the exception of specific Forge World models, which their rules are found in forge world tomes.

3.) No idea, don't play 30k yet (want to, just don't have time yet). Someone else will have to answer this question.

4.) All you need to do is make sure your current codex is the most up-to-date codex. I think if your codex has the Stormsurge in it (Lord of War model) you have the most current Tau rulebook. It's still 7th edition so if you have the 7th ed. rulebook you should still be fine. Rumors are swirling about 8th edition coming soon, so we'll see on that end.

5.) Best of luck finding opponents! I'm in the U.S. here.

I don't think there's been a new SM codex release. If your codex has Centurions and Storm Talons in it, I think you're good to go on that.

As for CSM, there hasn't been a new Chaos Codex released, however they have recently released a Traitor Legion supplement that allows you to play specific legions (Black Legion, Night Lords, Iron Warriors, Alpha Legion, etc.) with unique army rules and with unique warlord traits and relic lists for each of the major traitor legions.

It does a lot to add flavor and give some much needed love to the CSM codex. That said, Chaos Marine players want more done, an it doesn't instantly send CSM to the top tier of the army heap competitively speaking, but it does help the list quite a bit all the same.
