Rules-wise, they are their own thing, with a different stat-line from similar power weapons.

Fluff-wise, they are made from the claws and / or teeth of the various dangerous beasties that live on Fenris, rather than utilizing a disruption field (like what power weapons use), making them closer to ordinary chainswords in terms of physicality.
