Help needed for an airbrush beginner.

Hi Guys,

Im pretty set on the idea of an airbrush and am quite happy that i know what to get start-up-wise; brush, comp, cleaning pot, cleaner, thinner, flow improver, various cleaning items.

My main concern however, is whether i can get the correct colour shade to match my brush painted models and i cant seem to find an equivalent on any chart so far.

The main colour im after is citadel loren forest so if somebody could tell me a vallejo air equivelent i would really appreciate it.

Alternatively, could i thin the standard citadel paint for use in an airbrush? if so, how would you recommend doing this?

And finally, what hard coat should i suse provided i would like a matt finish?

any help appreciated guys, thanks

Just thin the citadel paint if you're worried about matching colors. I use Vallejo Airbrush Thinner and it works fine with Citadel paints. You can mix thin your paints in a separate cup, I'm lazy so I just them them in the airbrush cup itself, put a few drops of thinner in first (so that you don't get unthinned paint down the passage which may end up clogging it), put in a few drops of paint, stir it with an old brush.

It's going to take you a little while to get a feel for how thin the paint needs to be and what pressure you should spray at, do some googling and you can probably find some guides to help you out.
