After 6 years out of the hobby I've decided to get back into it and stay motivated by starting this Blog.

Having never actually made the jump into fantasy, Age of Sigmar has drawn me in (at least until the bloated 40K rules are sourced out), plus the Kharadron Overlords have really taken my interest. However, having never played the 'bad guys' I've decided to build myself a Khorne Bloodbound army.

The aim is to attempt to add, build and paint a new unit/box each month, primarily to actually focus on building a complete & painted force.

So without further ado, the first WIP model and test of the general colour scheme:











This is the first model I've painted in about 6 years. The general palette revolves around reds/purples, with a grey stone/ snow base

For the Hackblade and Wrath-hammer I've attempted to go for an obsidian style with purple hints. The Hackblade I'm pretty happy with although might still bring in a lighter purple highlight on the edges before coating it in gloss.
For the Wrath-hammer I'm not as taken on, I think its a bit too flat at the moment though don't really know where to take it next.

I'm also in two minds as to whether to bring in another layer of highlights, going to a silver for the gold/brass edges and a lighter red/orange for the edges of the armour.

I'll try and take some better photos later, but for now any comments and criticisms anyone has are more than welcome.

I've pretty much finished the Slaughterpriest, with the exception of repainting the base and then sealing it all. I feel it's at the stage that if I kept adding to it I would eventually just ruin it. I've still to work on my photo setup, but here it is:









The brass armour edging has received a silver edge highlight at the most extreme parts. The Hackblade and wrath-hammer both received a few extra layer of purple highlight and wash, along with a final gloss coat to further add to the obsidian look. Other smaller details received a few  washes just to tidy them up (bones, Korne logo, etc.). The base received a mud wash before final highlight and then flocked in snow. 

Overall I'm pretty happy with how he has turned out considering its the first model I've painted in earnest and to completion in 6/7 years.


The plan is to move onto the start collecting box next month, but in the meantime I bought the Storm of Sigmar set (which, as a side note, I believe is incredible value!) to really nail down the colour schemes and get in a bit more practice:
