My suggestion is to make some sergeants/ command squad look like a hybrid of the 2 forces. Add some vox casters, lasguns, banners to your ww2 kraut force and people honestly won't mind - unless its tournament of course.

With vehicles - thats another issue. 40k tanks are really different to what the market has. 1/48 scale is probably closest to a Leman Russ - but its longer, and shorter. 1/56 is bigger than a land raider.
