What would happen if a Pariah entered the Warp?

We know (or at least we knew, this is BFG fluff from the early '00s) the Tau (who are all low-level blanks) have managed to get FTL travel working by reverse-engineering Imperial warp drives such that they try to enter the Warp and get bounced back out at tremendous speed, but whether that's a result of their blank-ness or of how they designed the drives is another question.

Just going on what I know of how 'entering the Warp' usually works I don't think a blank would be able to just wander through a rift, though controlled transitions via a warp drive or the Webway do quite obviously work (see: Black Ships, the War in the Webway). I'd expect a blank exposed directly to the full power of the Warp to go comatose and die rather than explode; usually when blanks and warp powers come into contact there's a struggle for supremacy (a strong psyker/daemon can overpower a weak blank, a strong blank can squash a weaker psyker) but one of them comes out all the way on top (with either the blank shutting off the psyker or the psyker just battering through) with no extra explosions/destructive effects.

What would happen if a Pariah entered the Warp?

Personally, I think that as they have no presence in the Warp, they would simply be unable to enter it. Normal Humans can enter the Warp through a Warp rift, but if a Pariah would walk through one he would not enter a different dimension but just step through it in physical space like the rift is only a shimmer in the air.

KayTwo wrote:
Massive explosions would be cool.
What would happen if a Pariah entered the Warp?

Exactly. anyone you can put on a ship can enter the warp.
Theoretically a pariah could get out in a spacesuit, and - unlike a normal human - wouldnt be shredded by daemons the moment he crosses the gellar field perimeter.

However, the same thing which stops wandering fury packs from turning him into sashimi also prevents him perceiving the "realm of chaos" rather than just "the warp" - the skull throne doesnt have co-ordinates you can drive up to and park at. You cant get there without sorcery a pariah couldnt use.

Equally, if he could get there.....what would happen is he'd die, instantly and horribly, in a maelstrom of boiling blood and molten bronze, just like anyone else.

Pariahs may have a negative warp presence, but there are grades of null, just like there are grades of psyker, and neìther is goung to resist the kind of tsunami of warp energy of a bloodthirster of the first rank, let alone khorne himself. Sufficiently potent psykers and daemons can burn out a pariah (daemonifuge, ravenor).

Tau aether drive ftl isnt anything to do with their blunt nature (daemons still eat them, they just cant be bothered to expend much effort because they're not especialy tasty) but with tau tech being primitive - compared not to normal imperial tech but to mechanicus/dark age tech - they havent yet managed to create a 'proper' warp drive, just something which pushes you partially into the warp and boings you out somedistance away - hence why it's a lot slower than imperial warp drive and too bulky to fit on destroyer-class ships.

Post medusa v they did create a workable warp drive prototype. What they didn't develop was a workable gellar field. You can imagine how well the test run went....
