8th Edition Question List !

Alright so I picked up the new BRB and my Chaos and Xenos 1 Indices. Getting ready to play my first game and had some questions that I wanted clarification on if possible.

1. In the psychic phase, I just wanted to confirm that if multiple psykers know the same power, each psyker can attempt to manifest that power once itself. From the BRB this was pretty clear, but I watched some battle reports that showed them attempting to cast a certain power once per phase only so I wasn't positive.

2. Regarding command points, you always start with a default 3 when using a battle-forged army and then gain additional by using detachments. So if I would play a 1500 point game which says I can use up to 3 detachments per army, and I choose to use the battalion detachment, i'd have 6 CP total?

3. Regarding allied detachments which doesn't exist anymore, it seems like you can field any units together as long as they have the same faction keyword? So for example I could make a army roster with detachments using any combinations of models in the Chaos Index because every model contains the Chaos faction keyword? *The example roster in the back of the Chaos Index using the army faction word Chaos*. This seemed sweet, just wanted to confirm its legit.

4. Deathguard and Nurgle special ability, Disgustingly Resilient.....each time a model with this rule loses a wound, on a 5 or 6 they do not lose a wound. Does this work on mortal wounds?

5. Can you use stratagems to re-roll seize the initiative, potential map deployments, etc? All I found in the BRB was "You can spend Command Points to use a Stratagem before or during a battle" so I wasn't sure what everyone was doing regarding this since it takes place outside of any "phase".

1) The rules for matched play make it so that each psychic power can be cast only once per turn, regardless of how many psykers have it. Feel free to ignore it, and houserule that psychic powers' effects do not stack.

2) If you use most detachments larger than Patrol, you get a number of CP detailed on the detachment chart.

3) Yep. Choose a keyword, you army is now a army. All units inside it must be of that keyword.

4) Yes. If you would suffer multiple wounds, such as from a Damage 2 or Damage D6 attack, you roll for each wound that causes, not just on a successful to-wound roll.

5) It's unclear whether the re-roll power works on pre-game rolls. I personally think that the way the rules are written you may, but you can't re-roll the opponents dice as per the official FAQ.

Where does it say the rules for matched play make it so that each psychic power can be cast only once per turn, regardless of how many psykers have it? All the BRB says is a psyker cannot attempt to manifest the same psychic power more than once in a turn, not that a psychic power can only be manifested once per turn.

Page 215

With the exception of Smite, each psychic power can be attempted only once per turn, rather than once per psyker per turn.
