Question about metal mini prep?

Hey guys,

I have some old metal minis that I want to get primed in summer.

These were handled a lot when i was a child and then have been dumped in a an old cardboard box for the past 15 years

I'm thinking they probably have a load of particulates on them not conducive for priming

So can anyway give me any advice? I was thinking of scrubbing them in the sink with washing up liquid and then drying them out, before priming.

Thoughts much appreciated

Your thoughts on preparation are sufficient - I find a good scrub/rinse/dry leaves metal minis in excellent condition for priming.

Question about metal mini prep?

Yeah, won't hurt em. If you're really concern, dip them in some automotive degreaser and hit em' with a toothbrush (use glove etc. with that kind of liquid).

Question about metal mini prep?

After getting them all cleaned up (in a variety of appropriate methods) I find the best primer is a flat enamel primer. It is a much harder and more durable base on metal than acrylic. Also, keeps the chip problem to a minimum.

I shoot it through my airbrush and you can find all kinds of small bottles of flat enamels from many manufactures (Testors, Tamiya, etc.)
