Fender has had a few decent small amps. The fender frontman costs less than 60 euro in 10W, which is perfectly OK for a home practice amp.

Don't bother with valves at that power.

Disagree. They'll always sound better than solid state at appropriate volumes (all other things being equal). I've had a bunch of 1 and 2w all valve amps that wipe the floor with any solid state practice amp.
