I'm a Swedish guy who has been collecting and painting Warhammer and Warhammer 40K since about 2004. Never the less, I've never ever played a single game since I couldn't set my mind to a specific army and only bought cool stuff from different armies.

Now, being away from the hobby for four/five years I'm dead set on building an army of Astra Militarum (or as they always will be called by me: Imperial Guards).

As of now, I have bought, assempled and painted:
1. Company Commander with power sword and plasma pistol
2. 4 veterans serving as Command Squad, dunning meltagun, grenade launcher, vox caster, and regimental standard.
3. 10 Cadian troopers. Sergeant has got a bolt pistol, we have a vox caster, and a flamer.

Tomorrow I'm either gonna buy the new rulebook (I bought the Index: Imperial 2 some weeks ago) or some new troops. Have to hide it from my wife, hehe.
What do you think needs my money first? More tropps (and what kind) or the rulebook?

You'll be able to proxy your models until you get some later on, but the rules are essential.

Saying that though, the rules themselves are free.
