Start of a HUGE city board

Hey everyone! I''ve just started on a journey to build my dream cityfight board. Currently starting on the first 2x4 table. It will eventually be at least 6x4 but If I can find the space I want to upgrade it to 12 x 6.

Just received a box load of buildings, roads and accessories from unreal wargaming studios. Their buildings are fantastic, and actually look realistic compared to the stick thin gw buildings and mdf stuff I've seen in clubs.

I've started by roughly laying out the roads to get an idea of the street setup and I've built some of the ruins and started to place them where they look coolest. OI've already started painting a few and they aren't glued in place yet as I still have a lot of extra detailing work to do like floor beams, barrels, sandbags for cover etc. I also need to carefully cut some road sections so they sit flush with the edges of the table (I prefer everything at an angle to the table edge, makes for a more interesting game in my opinion).

[img]Once everything is detailed and glued in place I'll add some flooring and start shaping up the rubble, there's going to be a lot! Let me know what you think so far, what else should I add?

Re:Start of a HUGE city board

If you're going to glue stuff down ( a mistake, in my opinion) make sure your board has a LOT of elevation and variety. Dug in refuse rivers, spanning bridges, walkways, an electro-tram rail, city gates, an elevated launch rail or spaceport, etc. A set-piece board gets really old REALLY fast unless you have a ton of elevation and variety --- allowing the game to take a different twist each time you play.

It's a very common sacrifice people make to make the board "look" better, when in reality a modular board provides you with much better gaming options.

Maybe consider 2'x2' tiles or something.
