Iron Wolf Knight - Work In Progress

All of the shapeways bits finally arrived and I got a killer deal on the dreamforge gauntlet a while ago so I had to pick up my knight kit and get to work.

The only work that's not 'plug and play' is kit bashing the dreamforge fist onto the chainsword.

It was not a terribly difficult process, but I'd recommend a fine toothed razor saw to make the two cuts. You will also likely want to glue/fill the hollow end of the sword and fist with trimmed sprue so you have more surface area to hold both parts together.

Here is where I made the respective cuts on each part.

Test fit the gauntlet:

Not enough wolf flair - took 4 skulls from the SW Infantry sprue, bonus - they cover any poor prep work on my part on the claws.

That's about all the interesting bits - if you do decide to use the heads - using 1/8 x 1/8 magnets makes it really convenient to pose.

Here's the rest of the album so far, which has 2 magnet shots for the carapice, and some quick masking work as it will likely be excellent priming weather today.

https://imgur.com/a/XO8ye

Now 99% more done... just needs a matte sealer and then to be based... Weather won't accommodate the sealer for a few days.
Iron Wolf Knight - Work In Progress

Wowww he's beautiful!

Can I make a couple of suggestions?

He looks very pristine for something ancient and CC oriented.
I'm sure that's just your taste though and it does indeed look very crisp. I'm not saying blast it full of dents and dings, but maybe another wash on the metal portions?

The left pauldron though. Would it be possible to paint over the part of the transfer that's on top of the parchment? It looks a little odd to have an embossed surface showing up as underneath a recessed one.

Is there another thread where you detail the bits you got for him?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Nvm. Google got me the maker of the head on the first link, and that's what I wanted to know.

Cheers

Nice work. The original one of these really caught my attention. I don't think I really hold to the "Space Marine Chapter Knight" kind of thing, but you've done a really good job with the parts and the paint. Looks the part!

I'm pretty sure I'll do a second knight, mostly so I can have Skoll and Hati, also so they can tag along with a Spartan for massive games.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Zmoney716 wrote:
Wowww he's beautiful!

Can I make a couple of suggestions?

He looks very pristine for something ancient and CC oriented.
I'm sure that's just your taste though and it does indeed look very crisp. I'm always torn between 'parade ground relics' and 'active on the battlefield'. I'll probably practice on a few tanks before I do that detailing on the knight tho.

On the left shoulder pad - yep, I need to do something... I was so happy the micro-sol did it's job and the decal conformed to the surface I didn't consider that I might need to do a paint-over. I will likely do that (again, after I get a sealant down).
