1) On the Death Jester's gun, I would like to do some kind of Starry night sky and wonder how I would do a sparkling star.
- Current thoughts of it would be to pick a colour (like a purple), make a cross, and then transition from a dark purple, to a lighter purple inside the cross, with a dot of white in the middle.

2) For the spots where I want the Harlequin Diamonds, should I do a white base coat over the black primer first? Or can I go straight to base the colour I want it to be? Does starting on a white base or black base or coloured base make that much of a difference?

3) This has less to do with Harlequins, more to do with painting in general. I have heard two different things from people regarding black primed models. Either I go right into painting whatever colours I want overtop of the Black Primer, or I paint over the black primer with a black paint (Such as Abbadon Black) on spots that I intend to be black.

Q2. Depends on your diamond colors. If you are doing very bright/light (yellow, pink, etc) colors painting white or even grey first will reduce the number of coats you have to apply from mind numbing to manageable.

Q3. No you do not need to paint black primer with abbadon black. Caveat, that is as long as the primer finish is matte, GW paints are a Matte finish.

On a different note if the majority of your model is not going to be black, you might be better off looking into priming in the majority color.
