Strip unprimed painted resin?

Hello, just grabbed some resin models second hand, and they appear painted, but unprimed (I can still see some Grey parts). Whyyyy?

Anyway, I've searched and seems there are lots of tips to get the paints off, but Im gonna ask yet again, what is the cheapest way to get the paint off?

Ive seen oven cleaner, nail Polish remover, graffiti remover which I already gave in my house.

Then there's the simply green I've read about. Is that available in the US? I don't plan on stripping many models...

I would have just painted over these ones if they were at least Primed first.

Simple Green is available in the US and it's AMAZING for stripping. I use it if i screw up my painting or decide to change colors and it's brilliant both with and without primer.

Strip unprimed painted resin?

Heads up, Simple Green is not "as" amazing as it used to be. They made a major formula change and its diminished a good bit.

You'd probably want to look at Super Clean, or Purple Power - both high power degreasers in the automotive section of Wal-Mart.

Strip unprimed painted resin?

Okay, I found Super Clean at my hardware store.

How long do we suggest soaking, a few hours, or overnight? I'll test it first with a badly painted Space Marine

Strip unprimed painted resin?

I've done it overnight without ill effects on some Finecast stuff. The only thing you want to avoid, obviously, is heat. I used an ultrasonic on one once and it turned the resin into floppy putty simply because of the heat.

It depends a lot on the paint applied to the miniature. Most paints strip off easily enough with a paint brush after an evening or over-night soak. I haven't done a lot of work with resin so I don't know if extended dips will hurt it.
