Is the only way to get them from the tyrannocyte kit?

Can i make some out of green stuff, spore mines and tentacles and still bring them to tournaments? What are the rules regarding this?

Provided you match dimensions and base size, it should be really easy to get along with other players, especially with such a static unit. If its a big ball with googly tentacles, it's not hard to understand its a Mucolid.

When they first came out and were a 15pt troop slot filling option, everyone had to have them and a lot of people used the FW mieotic spores with a taller base to match the height.

Thanks for your comment, yes, i think thats the only way. I have one from the tyrannocyte kit. People always get a rude awakening when they try to charge it with multiple units and eat all the overwatch too.

This. Toss a few sporocysts into a list and the spore mines it spews out can choke up the field pretty quickly. Shots wasted killing sporocysts are not spent killing better thing (typical tyranid tactic). Area denial. Heavy bolters. All good things.
