[2000] - Necron - Mobile Firepower

The Wraiths in the Forgebane set, combined with last week's post by Angusman about Warriors in Ghost Arks, made me thinking of the following:

--- HQ ---
Cryptek, Veil of Darkness
Overlord, Warscythe, Warlord

--- Troops ---
20 x Warriors
10 x Warriors, in Ghost Ark
10 x Warriors, in Ghost Ark

--- Fast Attack ---
6 x Wraiths, no kit

--- Heavy ---
3 x Tesseract Ark, Tesla Cannons

I normally play gunlines and lose. One of the things I've started to like about Tesseract Arks is that they can play mid-field assault if necessary, and won't be tarpitted. Veil of Darknessing the Warrior blob across the field in the first or second turn, coupled with fast moving Ghost Arks and Wraiths should put a lot of folks in dominant position in the mid-field around objectives or to blunt major offensives. I know Wraiths hit like wet noodles, but they can tarpit high value enemy assets. Tesseract Arks can hammer away at armored targets or flee to the mid-field if enemies deep strike into the deployment zone.

Thoughts? Is this completely ineffective? Might be fun to play.

Armour, definately not a problem, and you have quite a decent weight of shooting. I think anything with fast/mass combat potential like Nids, Orcs, Daemons are going to sting a bit, whilst durable, death by a thousand cuts really hurts wraiths, so a couple of decent size genestealer/orc blocks will get rid of them too quickly.

I think that a unit of Destroyers could complement the mobile shooting idea you have going on. If the wraiths don't work out in your first test game then switch to Destroyers with a heavy destroyer

That was more positive feedback than I anticipated, seemed I was overlooking something. Will have to give this a try in the future, and definitely plan on picking up destroyers at some point too, depending on Codex.
