A while ago, I read that features alcohol can be used to safely strip plastic, but sometimes acetone is added, making it unsafe. As denatured alcohol is quite easily accesible to me, and apparently works well, I would like to use it, but I have no idea what is safe to buy and what is not. Use Detergent. Soak it overnight. Use toothbrush to wipe it off.

"Denatured" alcohol can contain methyl alcohol, but also uses Pyridine, isopropyl alcohol, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone or methyl isobutyl ketone and something called "Denatonium" to make it taste bitter.

Both they and isopropyl alcohol will strip acrylic paint off models with the help of a scrubbing brush. "Dettol" is also mostly isopropyl alcohol (with added pine and eucalyptus scents and oils).
