Take a piece of gentle, non-marking tape, like clear scotch tape and tape the edges of the surface around where you want the lines. You'll probably want to test this with your paints on a piece of sprue or something to make sure it doesn't pull up tape first.
Paint the exposed surfaces. Let dry completely as above.
Pick up tape, move to next line, repeat.

On rounded surfaces or surfaces where tape just obviously isn't going to work, I'll pencil in lines showing where i want each line to be and then paint over it.
