Re:Battlewagon walkways

Either get a used trukk, or a trukk kit - it's really ideal for bits for conversions. Definitely get some trukk wheels - unless you have another idea about locomotion. Taurox tracks look awesome on orky stuff, not sure on Monolith though.

As for walkways specifically, I would possibly plasticard it, you can get some with a diamond pattern, or a grid, cut it into the width you want and make a walkway that goes around the monolith at an angle, for instance, with stairs.

You could also use stuff like rhino doors, or all of the above.

There are some people who do MDF walkways as well, you might look into. Promethium forge has some, Impudent Mortal does as well.

I start with an idea sometimes, but then it'll go all off the rails as I just add bits here and there, as it looks good. Which is pretty much the orky way anyway!

Good luck and let us know how you get along!

Since he's never done it, here was my idea for locomotion (feel free to steal it if you like it).

Put a ton of Gretchins/Grots/Snotlings underneath it and Runtherd on the back, so that it looks like they're carrying it while the Runtherd whips motivation into them

Hah! I was planning to do my trukk that way, but the Grots ended up revolting and taking over the whole army, so now the Orks will have to carry any palanquins...

Options include:

Diamond or treadplate pattern sheet styrene. Easy to work with, and a nice detail.

Plastic craft grating ("granny grating") for a mesh walkway. Your supports would be a lot more visible, so you'll need to make them look good also. Styrene I-beams are useful.

Wooden stir sticks from chain coffee-stands make for good wooden planking.
