A question about Intercessors & Paint Set

Hi there everybody. I am new to warhammer 40k hobby and after watching few of the Warhammer TV painting videos I decided that I want to try it. So I was browsing on the GW online store and looking up some thing for begginers and I found Intercessors & Paint Set and I was like: "Yes this looks like a good way to start!" it doesn't cost that much but there are some things that are some questions I have about this set: 1. Do I need plastic glue to assemble them? 2. I guess they need to be undercoated first but the set doesn't have the paint to do that right? And is there a non-spray option for the undercoat? Since I saw a video on warhammer tv about undercoating where Duncan used spray and then he showed that there is an paint version called Imperial primer but i cant find it in GW online store. 3. Are all the sprays in GW online store with the primer stuff? Because only on the Chaos black spray says that it is for undercoating. EDIT: 4. Are there any like recommended sets of paints for Necrons?

A question about Intercessors & Paint Set

Hi, and welcome to the hobby!

So to answer your questions :

1. The set is a good introduction, and if you look at the box in the lower corner it has a green square with a white cog/hand/wrench symbol, which makes it an easy to build kit - just slot them together and you are ready to go. You can a small amount if glue if you want, but they are surprisingly sturdy without!

2. The paints you get in the box are called base paints, and can be used to undercoat your model without a primer. However, if you want, you can buy either white/black primer which is an extra cost, but it will make painting the models easier. Imperial primer has been discontinued for a while, so either coral white or chaos black spray is the ones to use.

3. The sprays are both a colour and primer in one on the GW site, so if you know what the main colour of your army will be, using a spray will save a lot of time! Not all colours have a spray, as it's usually the more popular colours too.

4. Unfortunately, Necrons don't have an easy build kit, or a paint set unfortunately. However, Necrons are quite easy to build however, so just take your time, and it will get quicker and less effort the more experience you get! Also, they are probably the easiest army to paint - Duncan's tutorial on Warhammer TV will show you just how easy they are!

Hope the info helps!

This is true, the Easy to Build kits don't need glue.

2. This is incorrect, primer (or at least a spray paint) is vital to getting smooth and even paint. A can of cheap plastic primer from a car parts store is perfect and they often come in different colours.

3. I don't actually know if this is true or not (I haven't worked with anything but Chaos Black from GW) but it's a good start at least. See point 2 for a better and cheaper option.

4. For Necrons all you really need are black, silver and maybe a green. There isn't a paint set but it's a simple scheme.
