I've built a few tank hulls and turrets from 1mm thickness - with an internal support structure.

(Evergreen use thousandths of an inch for their thicknesses (the 010, 020, 030, etc) as well as mm).

For surface detailing, 0.5mm or so.

For larger constructions like buildings 2.5-3mm thick stuff.

For anything over 0.5mm, don't try to cut all the way through, use the "score and snap" method and clean the edge up with sandpaper and/or a file. 90% of what I use is 40thou.
