Land effect

I recently found out about a phenomenon called the land effect that basically says that you can make any one colour look like any other colour using the principle of colour constancy (something white will look white to you no matter how it's illuminated).
I would very much like to use this effect for the upcoming three colour maximum painting challenge, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find any guides on it. Any art majors out there that can help me or resources that you would recommend?
