Scythed Hierodule

Any Tyranid players have experience with this guy? I’m thinking about getting this guy and was just curious how he fairs. My biggest concern is not having an invuln save and getting eaten up by anti-tank stuff. Not sure how far that T8 carries him. I like the model so I’ll probaly get it anyway, just curious what people think. I mostly play competitive casual games. (Meaning people play to win, but aren’t fielding super meta cheese).

It's quite comparable to an imperial knight. Similar points cost and statline.

It does indeed suffer from the lack of an invul save. It also lacks a few other features of most knight class models, such as flat 6 damage attacks, and stomp attacks for dealing with infantry. Plus it degrades quite harshly.

The upside is that it has the Tyranid and <Hive Fleet> keywords, so there is a bit of synergy with your armies rules.
For instance you can Catalyst it, or make it move twice using the swarmlord.

Overall it's not amazing, while still being usable.
I don't bother using it much because I can get better stuff from the codex. In my experience it rarely disappoints, it just rarely excels either.

I'd love to have one, love the model and may get one for that reason, but the poor guy is over priced for what he does - survivability isn't great without any form of Invulnerable save unless you want to run an (expensive) distraction unit the guy is laser cannon bait.

As part of a Nidzilla list with other mostly large gribbles the situation may change whereby gribble here allows the rest to live longer.

does need a screen to keep nasty combat units at a safer distance though

On a bit of a side note, anyone think FW will revise and release their books? I’d love to see some consistency with their models. For instance, it makes no sense that the Dimachaeron doesn’t get a tail attack.

Eventually, but don't hold your breath.
Forgeworld tend to only release updated rules for old models either when an edition change forces them to, or when they are expanding a model range.
It could be years before they get back around to tyranids.
