I own most of what I would need for that Kharadron list as a result of stuff I bought purely to enjoy painting, but i'd really prefer to not run something so inflexible. Fyreslayers could be a fun option though. ... my purposes being, not feeling totally down on how my giant Dwarf collection will play in AoS. :-p

I don't know why, but I think I also fixated a little much on needing to run my list as pure Dispossessed. I haven't played much AoS in the last year or so, and forgot I could run an "Order" list.

I know it wouldn't be top-tier, but running my army as Order loses me access to the Pickaxe artifact, but lets me field all the Ironweld toys that I own, and make something resembling a more traditional Dwarf army of old. I'll be content with that for semi-casual play, and knowing I might be able to put together a semi-competitive list with allies makes me happy enough.

I'm not looking to win major events, i'm looking to not embarrass myself at store-level tournaments. :-p

My wife on the otherhand... ;-) She just spent $750 on Daughters of Khaine, because she is a beautiful, beautiful, filthy power-gamer. :-p

This. "Competitive" is a broad term. Always know whats the level where you are playing. I play regularly in 3 different stores. One is casual, as in, tons and tons of marines on foot. Other is casual-competitive, you see a little more coherent forces, but nothing more. Then the third one is middle-of-the road competitive, where you see lists that are clearly based on the idea of using the strong units, but with a mix of more subpar units that people likes, and even the ones based on internet netlist are heavely changed.

I don't play on high-end competitive tournaments, the kind of tournament where OP Tzeentch, Stormcast, Fyreslayers ,etc... are seen. So with my barbarian bloodbound horde and my generic destruction horde with greenskins (Not Ironjawz) and Ogres I can play no problem in three of those stores. Internet can warp your perception, and even if I can absolutely admit that some stores play just high-end competitive style even in casual pick up games, they aren't the norm. I'm increasingly confident that going "Order" lets me comfortably work in the mid-competitive system while taking what us old-timers would unquestionably recognize as an Old-World "Dwarf" army.

Also, thanks for the head's up on the Ordinator from Malign Portents. He seems like a great force-multiplier for slightly more hardcore games, and he's dirt-cheap points-wise.

Since the GW warscrolls for Ironweld artillery are messed out (outside of the app), and missing their 2nd pages... How do crews work?

Specifically is a given artillery crew bound to a set gun, or can artillery from one gun, count towards a gun whose crew is already dead?

I'm really having much more fun list-building, and planning purchases, etc... now that i've embraced going "Order" and just sell imposing a restriction on only taking the Dwarf-extended family. I know AoS is all about micro-factions, but if this was the old days and Dispossessed/Ironweld/Fyreslayers/Kharadron were all one giant book, I think I would've fainted from joy.

I already own all the Dispossessed/Ironweld a person could ever need thanks to the good old days, but I just threw a silly amount at some Fyreslayers which should open up some fun tricks come game time.

Edit: Anyone have any tips or tricks for good "Counts-As" Hearthguard? I have no "counts-as" options for you, but I can offer another solution which is less costy - 20 or 30 Vulkite Berserkers instead? They are Battleline, and teaming them up with a Runesmiter is both fun and a good unit - what is more fun than 21/31 tunneling berserk Dwarves?


1 Start Collecting Box + a unit of Vulkite Berskers = 20 Berserkers, 1 Magmadroth and 3 Heroes (one on Magmadroth) - $145

OR

2 Start Collecting Boxes = 20 Berserkers, 2 Magmadroths and 6 Heroes (two on Magmadroth) - $170. I MAY have bought three Start Collecting Boxes, and 60 additionally Vulkite Berserkers. :-p I stopped there, even though I still really want a blob of Hearthguard, but honestly, I saw it as a way of spending a lot of money, but also getting my now 10+ year old Dwarf collection some competitive options for the years ahead (hopefully).
