Chaos Lord - How to Upsize?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to build a generic Chaos Lord to add to my army.
I'm really fond of the new marine sizes.

This Lord will, in the nearby future, be a Lord for my Death Guard to use (I am using a 30k DG model now) but in the bit-more-distant future will probably lead his own Chaos subfaction (probably Emperor's Children), so can't look too 'Death-Guardy', so modelling off of Plague Marines is a no go.

Have any of you built a Chaos Lord in the new dimensions (roughly Plague Marine size)?
What parts did you use?

The Dark Vengeance models is what I still have laying around on sprue, but they're now comically small (my Chaos Lord right now is the smallest dude, with the least equipment, hiding behind Plague Burst Crawlers.. He's a sad guy, really).

Thanks!

Chaos Lord - How to Upsize?

Have you considered just grabbing a Primaris or a primaris character and chaosifying them?

The blood angels lieutenant could look very cool as an emperor's child. He's got the pose, sword, and even hair for it. You'd have to do something about the blood angels icon on his chest but keeping some of their old imperial stuff and defacing it can add a lot of character to chaos models. Perhaps a big crack/scratch through the blood drop to make it unrecognizable as a BA specific chestplate and rather just an old imperial chestplate. Then the sword arm shoulder pad is a separate part and totally interchangeable, as is the backpack and head, so all of that can be simply replaced with chaos parts. The gun arm could be replaced with any other marine arm (though it might need to be primaris/new chaos sized). Perhaps that's where a Death Guard tentacle arm and a generic chaos shoulder pad can come in?

Re:Chaos Lord - How to Upsize?

I'm afraid I don't have any scale shots next to the new Primaris/ Plague Marines, but try looking around for true-scale tutorials. An easy way to do is, is to just cut up the legs of a Marine and add a spacer of 1mm below and above the knee. It makes your marines quite a bit bigger (but probably not as bulky as the Plague Marines).
Another way to go would be to look towards the Stormcast Eternals as a base Model, the more detailed armor might be especially fitting for EC.

Here's two pictures of what I did before the new models where a thing.

Spoiler:

Chaos Lord - How to Upsize?

Thanks! These are both great ideas. I'll definitely look into converting a Primaris. I've got a ton of 30k EC bits as well to help me do that (Eidolon's head, EC shoulders, EC torsos etc).
Just need to find a way to more generally chaosify it.

Guess I'll google some tutorials

Let's hope we see new Chaos minis soon.
