At the moment I am planning my Harlequin color scheme and I want to go for a pink/purple effect. I have been thinking to maker the black look a bit nicer I could apply a shade of Druchii Violet all over or in certain areas however I have no idea if this will have any impact on the color.

So if anyone could help me out here it would be greatly appreciated.

If the black you're using is glossy and very black - as opposed to charcoal grey - it won't do much. If you're talking about Harlequin clothes (legs/arms), I suspect there isn't enough texture to produce any effect with a wash. If you want a gradient from black to purple the best you can do is a glaze or feathering (whatever suits you the most). Washing purple over a very dark grey will deepen the tone, make it a little glossy, and will give a hint of purple when the light's right.
