[help / advice] first dreadnought

Hello,

so finally I'm moving to the ultramarine part of the army! I wanted to start with a dreadnought so I took a big one.. problem is maybe I'm not so sure how to go on:

Highlighted areas:
-I don't have an airbrush but I like the highlighted areas, I tried to brush-blend a lighter blue on the torso, parts of the legs and shoulders. How much would you push this trend? Now it is barely noticeable, but it could be spammed all over the curved surfaces? Any pro-tip?

Splashed ink on torso:
-Krapfen, the German Shepard here, bounced into me while I was handling the ink and dots spilled on the torso, would you use them as damages or try to polish them away? If used as damage, what's the next step? adding black dots in the middle of the spot?

Color scheme:
-the guy is Ultramarine, the knee pads, elbow pads, and feet will be.. white or gold? maybe on white it will be easier to add damage and transfers? On the other hand.. golden shoes ftw.

Thanks!

WIP:

First I would do all the metal parts, as most of the larger areas are behind big armor plates. Then I would go with a strong and noticeable wash on the recesses and edge highlight with Calgar Blue. Then you can do some battle damage if you feel like it. As for details like white or gold on some plates, just search for painted ultra dreads. Also, ask yourself if you're going for a more 30k look or pure 40k.

The technique I use for rust is: base with metal, then brown layer and orange drybrush. Blu and orange are actually pretty cool together so I'm digging the rust. It's been going around for 10000 years after all, can't be shiny
