Guy Haley's Dark Imperium reconfirms he is alive. But ADB's Talon of Horus and Throneworld from the Beast Arises (also by Guy Haley) confirm that.



And Erebus in False Gods said the Emperor wants to be a god, but would you honestly trust Erebus? Especially when Horus did not believe him, and neither did Magnus? Magnus was there telling Horus not to listen to Erebus.
