[2000] - Imperial Knights - Pure Knights and a Perceptor!!

So I want to try to have a consistent 2-1 or greater showing at tourneys, but also not doing any ally shenanigans. In that respect, it seems like I need to go for as many CP as I can, so 2 Superheavy Detachments. Also, my knights currently are all painted with the same heraldry, but I wouldn't be opposed to doing different households I guess..

*****************************************************

- Superheavy Detachment (House Taranis) -

Knight Warden with Ironstorm Missile Launcher (427)
Knight Warden with Ironstorm Missile Launcher (427)
Knight Gallant with Ironstorm Missile Launcher (370)

- Superheavy Detachment (House Taranis) -

Knight Perceptor with Multi-Laser (425)
Armiger Helverin (174)
Armiger Helverin (174)

*****************************************************

My thought process is to maximize the amount of firepower and efficiency out of each Knight chassis model. Knight Wardens with Gatling, Heavy Flamer, Stubber and Ironstorm is alot of firepower, and they can also jump into CC if they need to. The Perceptor will take the Helm for +1 to hit for the Helverins. Hopefully that will be some reliable firepower, and the Impulsor itself acts like another Gatling cannon or Thermal Lance as the situation arises. The problem is, there really isn't any really heavy firepower if I go against a tank/Knight/T8 heavy army. I'm not sure if that will be a big enough hindrance though.

I know most folks are doing the 3x Gallant and Castellan, but I'm not sure if there are situations where the Gallants just can't do enough, or get zoned out of CC. Wardens, on the other hand, can do damage in the shooting and CC phases. Also, even with 12 CP, I feel like I will be using about 3 or so a turn (rotate shields, top bracket and a re-roll or so) so having a Castellan with no guard battery seems like it would run out of steam really fast

Am I all wet here?

That's actually a pretty cool list. I would suggest you drop the Ironstorm from the Gallant; you want him advancing, getting into CC as soon as possible, unless you take House Raven you're not going to be able to use the Ironstorm after advancing. The only thing I could also possibly suggest is that you swap one of the Wardens for an Errant. You've got plenty of firepower, but nothing that could reliably threaten another Knight outside of 18", or go for a Crusader with Avenger and Melta and get the best of both worlds.

You're also missing out on Warlord Traits and Relics. If you really want to maximise your CP you could get an extra one through the Warlord Trait (can't remember the name), and have a great selection of Relics to choose from.

After that, its pretty situational depending on the opponent, but all of the large tournaments I've been to this year have allowed Warlord Traits/Relics to be picked prior to the match, so that's why I don't have them listed here.

I also really like Knight Crusaders, and feel like they are maybe the most underrated knights, but the points don't really work out well to fill enough detachments to get 12CP, which seems required if I'm going to be using the Taranis stratagem more than once.

So really my question is more a matter of, is getting 12CP as pure knights worth more than trying to just focus on as much firepower as possible. Also, with the list above, is the lack of S8+ shooting going to hurt me more than the fact that I'm playing pure knights?

At ATC I played 4 shooting heavy knights and my hard matchups/counters were Eldar and Smite Spam. I was also playing an Imperial house so I couldn't use the Mechanicus 5++ against Psychic Mortal wounds stratagem. Would that be enough to just switch to mechanicus with 4x shooting knights and still have just as much fun, or am I over thinking this whole thing?

That's my kinda jumbled thought process.

I think in a pure knights list you are better off taking better knights than going for more CP.

I'd go for this list.
Crusader - Thermal Cannon, storm spear, stubber
Crusader - Thermal Cannon, storm spear, stubber
Preceptor - Guntlet, Storm spear, Multi laser
Hellverine
Hellverine
Warglaive

Relics to preference - I'd probably load them all up with 3 relics and 2 warlord traits and start the game with 5 CP lol.
