Painting some gore for Chaos Spawn

Hello folks! So for the spirit of Halloween, I wanted to paint up a miniature that I found as a perfect stand in for Chaos Spawn. They are the Insidous Madness figures from Malifaux, and I am enjoying, for the most part, these miniatures. I am however a little stuck on what exactly to use for the needed effects on the paint to look right on these flesh balls of a creature.

The main idea is a human who didn't satisfy the patron god of his or her cult, and is quickly twisted and distorted into a newly disfigured form. So I want to go for a freshly turned human, which would mean the body was misshapen as it reformed, so the skin of this creature should look brusied, inflamed, and/or bleeding under it's surface.

I got some base colors down, with a vague idea of what I want, but if any folks can give any pointers, I would appreciate it!

If you are going for a bruised and inflamed look, you may want reds and purples in your palette. Depending on what you are going for, you may want to start off with a bone type colour (healthier tone) or grey colour (more zombielike).

Either way, I suggest starting off with a brighter shade since applying washes will darken down the skin tone significantly.

What I do is start of with Bleached bone (don't know the new name sry) and when that has dried, I apply a red wash and when that has dried, a purple wash in select areas (around wounds for example).

I'm no expert on this, but it's a starting point! Have fun experimenting!

1 small bottle Clear elmers glue with 5 drops red food coloring and 1 drop blue food coloring, apply it after the model has been varnished so its glossy, its really deep and looks real. You can also use Tayima red clear paint + black wash (its oil based so it needs spirits/thinner to clean the brush) to achieve the same thing.

for bruises I'd say glazing with reds, purples, blues and greens. i see you have carrouberg crimson there. thin that down and layer over where you want your bruising. as you build it up it will darken the area nicely.

After many tests, it seems that layering the paints give the needed effect, yet it is still messy. This is what I have so far, and the bruising is down to the point where I wanna leave it be.
Any suggesting to give this thing more a grotesque look?
