As you can see, the miniature doesnt look glossy. How do I achieve this? What do I have to do to make the colours look dull? I don't think that this is only achieved through the varnishing?

NMM or Non-Metallic Metal. It's an incredibly difficult and tedious technique to master but can yield some pretty spectacular results.

That model is a masterpiece, there are no easy and cheap gimmicks for beginners or even quite advanced painters to emulate that "look". Practice, practice and practice.
