Q in regards to pre owned FW dreads.

So im looking at buy some pre owned FW dreads from a seller as the deal is not bad.
there is 2 issues tough.

1: the weps are glued. seeing as the models dont come with the weps i want this is ofc a issue. the seller claims that simply putting the dreads in the freezer for some time will make the weps snap righ off.
is this true? and if so, what else might "snap" off?

2: the models are basecoated red and black. should this be a horrible basecoat is there anyway to paint strip a resin model?

overall the deal is better then if i was to buy the models new directly from FW, but i cant help but wondering the reason for it is that the seller has done irreversible things to them.

For 1 superglue does in fact go brittle in freezer. I managed to separate one of the barrels from my sicaran that I had managed to glue in shall we say silly angle that way. Freezer and then carefully apply pressure and snap. So you should have chance of doing it but no quarantees. Obviously try to not twist on the thinnest part of the model least you break the resin itself.

For 2 I have used liquid used in camp stove to strip paint from resin without damaging model. However seeing there\s possibility this is not in fact real FW resin there's no quarantee whatever resin it is wouldn't melt on that one...So alternatively depending on how thick original base coat is just put in thin layer of preferred coat.

If the seller has glue the resin model with regular superglue, then yeah freezing in the ice box will help snapping the arms off. As far as stripping the resin model: don’t put it in isopropyl alcohol to soak for longer than a couple minutes, as it will make the thin resin parts rubbery, thicker resin parts crack to release any trapped air bubbles. You can soak it in simply green for a week and scrub softly with a brush.
