Some simple color theory. To desaturate any color, you mix in a bit of it's complementary color. In the case of red, mix in green. The amount of saturation you're after will determine the amount of green you add. You may need to play around with which specific red combo'd with which specific green will give you the tone you're after, but that's the basic jist of it.

If you want to break it down further, green is made with yellow and blue. So you can control the saturation further by specifically mixing yellow and blue into your red. Primary colors, yea!

You can further desaturate by mixing whites into your highlight colors, which will further knock out the saturation. Glancing the GW website, I'd suggest Rhinox hide, then Wazdakka Red, then Evil Suns Red
