Next add your chainmail with a little bit of boltgun mixed in it. I use all vellejo colors and this makes it easy to mix the paints. You need to concentrate on the higher spots and anywhere the forst coat is thin. Then ink it down. I use glaze medium (2/1) with black paint. (In case you dont know, glaze medium is a vellejo product that allows you to make your paint transparent and wash them over your colors with out thinning the pigment or breaking down the binders the way water does.) Add water till its thin and wash all your metals make sure its thin you dont want it to look like Black paint this is just a wash. That will deepen you metal and make it very flat. Let it dry well before doing anything else. This is where you could also use the smoke ink he spoke of. Its a brown rust like ink that works well for metal parts. Becarefull with this though as it is pretty potent and needs to be thinned and apply very sparsly. It can over power your color quickly.

Once all is dry you can go over the armor again with chainmail and a tad of bolt gun mostely on the high spots. Build up the high spots to your liking, adding mithiril into your chainmail until you get to pure silver. It sound like alot of work and steps but I assure you you should be able to do all your armor in and hour or two tops on all your 4 or 5 fighters. Hope it helps
