Prepping models for primer

I saw somewhere that in order to prep models for priming you can use dishsoap & water with a toothbrush to remove the oils that collect on them from assembling. Can you use Isopropyl alcohol to do the same? I have over a 100 models needing primer but wasn't sure about the best way to go about it.

What kind of models do you have?
Normal Plastic kits don’t need that, it’s more for resin products..

I tend to run my plastics through a quick bath of dishsoap and a toothbrush just in case. Nothing too complicated, just enough to foam up while scrubbing and then I rinse them in hot water and let dry.

Prepping models for primer

I try to rinse my sprues under water when I pull them out because I see whiteish residue on there which I assume is from the manufacturing process, either mold release chemicals or dust from the warehouse. Primer is designed to bond to plastic, not mold release lubricants.

Just throwing your models in a dish tub of soapy water and running them under water will help get rid of finger grease before priming, I’ve actually used an LED lamp and seen my fingerprints on SM shoulder pads. They feel noticeably less slick after doing so. My hands get so dry during the winter and crack that it’s probably not a winter issue but it could be a real concern depending on your primer.
