I will be buying a Necron Catacomb Command/Annihilation Barge soon and I'd like to light it up with SMD LEDs.

I can figure out how to route almost all the wires and LEDs, however I'm stumped on how to light one part.

I see in those photos that the guy has lit his resurrection orb. I'd like to do the same. I am assuming the kit part is solid plastic and grey. So not easy, if not impossible, to hollow out.

Can anyone here offer me any ideas on how to achieve the look of the orb in the photos, without casting a new orb in clear resin?

One problem I can see is that I'll be sticking an LED inside the "tunnel" that goes through the bead, or just under the bead, and I might end up with a very obvious lit "tunnel" through the bead and not much else.
