Militarum Tempestus Captain Andren Fel

I haven’t read it yet, but WC article presents the new “Trials” by Rachel Harrison.

In the description, it describes “Militarum Tempestus Captain” Andren Fel.

I’ve never heard of a Captain of the Militarum Tempestus. The only other I’ve heard is possibly “Tribune” from “The Trophy,” as I was told that happened.

I asked Warhammer Community if this was a new rank or not. They told me that they “would suggest that Captain is the rank, while Tempestor Prime is the title/job position.”

Andren Fel is represented later in the initial article as a Tempestor Prime on the tabletop.

They then told me that not every Scion regiment follows the same Regimental doctrine, so titles will change between different companies in different war zones.
Is this just a case, perhaps, of the “Trials” author not being familiar entirely with the lore, do you think? Granted, the lore on the Militarum Tempestus is limited, and new material for the Militarum Tempestus would be great, but I’ve never heard of a Militarum Tempestus Captain.

Militarum Tempestus Captain Andren Fel

It's very likely this is simply an editorial oversight. Especially considering that Storm Troopers, which the Militarum Tempestus replaced, did have captains. Most of the new terminology is simply so GW can pull everything under their IP, which they couldn't do with Storm Troopers.

Militarum Tempestus Captain Andren Fel

I think it's absolutely likely that you have Militarum Captains.

Don't forget, in the Imperium alone, there's plenty of room for variations in title and rank, but in game, you get represented by a catch-all profile.
For example, we have the Company and Platoon Commanders of the Militarum - these could be Captains, Majors, Colonels, Lieutenants, etc etc.
In the Space Marines, we have Librarians who range from Codiciers, Lexicanums, etc etc
In 30k, the unit of "Praetor" could be represented in lore by all manner of titles such as Legate, First Captain, Battle-Captain, Warsmith, Khan, Chapter Master, Marshal, etc etc.

I think Harrison is absolutely safe in saying that some Militarum Tempestus personnel go by the rank of Captain, filling the role of Tempestor Prime.
Consider this your first time seeing the fleshing out of what Tempestus canon is, I suppose?
