Help me decide the way to go

Hello everyone

I'm about to start making scratch-built rhino equivalent out of foam-board, card-board and paper (and house-hold (s)craps).
While I already have a general picture in mind, I can't decide on 2 points :
- should I go true-scale or should i respect, as much as I can, the "standard" GW Rhino? Which leads to a sub-question : is a True-scale rhino as big as a "regular" Land Raider ?
- should I do tracks, wheeled or anti-grav as for the locomotive parts ?
(BTW, I didn't have to chance to put my hands on the new rules yet, but does anti-grav vehicles, like land-speeder, have a minimum speed value ?
I'm fond of anti-grav, but I don't want to "crash" all my transports because of unlucky dices. Or does anti-grav have something to compensate this handicap (like further moves) ?)

What are your thoughts ?

Re:Help me decide the way to go

If you're planning to have the widest range of people accept your scratchbuilt model in a game, I'd suggest trying to stay as close as possible to the original. That way you aren't "modeling for advantage."

If you aren't true-scaling everything in your army, I wouldn't bother having one model truescale and the rest not. That would look weird, especially if you're trying to maintain in-game rules. Otherwise, if it looks the size of a land raider it would make sense to in-game treat it as a land raider.

Anti-Grav would likely be the easiest to model, I would think. I don't know if that's an issue for you.

Skimmers dont' have a minimum speed, but "Flyers" do. That said, if you're emulating a Rhino, it's rules would not have the skimmer-type rule.

If you're planning to make your own rules for your vehicle, the only limit is your opponent's acceptance and your imagination.

If you aren't true-scaling everything in your army, I wouldn't bother having one model truescale and the rest not.

I already have a custom drop pod that can really hold 10 Space Marines.
Bikes and land-speeder already seems "on scale" to me, so they are/will be untouched.

How can it be my advantage on the table If my rhino is bigger, it's a bigger target for my opponents
.

Anti-Grav would likely be the easiest to model, I would think.
In general for game use, you want to keep scratch builds and counts-as as close to the original size. One of the main uses of rhinos, after they are done dropping off troops, is as a rolling LoS blocker. While yes, a larger rhino is easier to shoot, you could also hide half your army behind it.

I think everything that has anti-grav also has the FLY keyword, which doesn’t have any drawbacks (besides the things that specifically target it, the the rules on some AA weapons).

But if you want a marine grav tank, I’d look at the repulsor, not the rhino. Although in old lore, the custodes had grav rhinos.

Oooww, good point, never thought about LoS.
I'll take that into consideration.

Isn't the repulsor a whole tank, not just a chassis ?
