40k temple/cathedral ruins

So I'm planning a SoB army and have my infantry/characters all set. I want to do something different for the basing and was thinking of making a ruined/damaged temple to the God Emperor. And ideas on how to pull this off with an army of almost entirely small bases effectively?

Or is it possible the Sisters might get a base size upgrade like the Space Marines did? (seeing as Celestine and her Gemini are on 32mm bases now)

Define effectively? I'd use a base pad or roller to just make some fitted stone bases and add patches of sand, broken bits etc to it.

If you want to be really elaborate I'd take something like a Basius pad make a huge sheet of textured flooring with some epoxy putty and shatter it, use that to base with.

I mean make them stand out a bit more with such a small surface. My issue with tiny bases is it's less room to work with overall. I usually end up using sand and paint just to get it done, but I would like to do something more scenic this time around.

You could extend past the edge of the bases a little bit. GW bases have angled sides to help there. The bricks/stones can look as if pulled right out of their floor and floating, like the mini effectively is on its base.

Tiled floor? reasonably easy with a bit of sheet plastic, score the pattern in it.

maybe a bit of gravel as rubble, on a 25mm base its going to be more of a suggestion than anything else

I made flagstone bases using greenstuff and a silicone press mold. I think it was a Happy Seppuku product, I got it from a FLGS quite a while ago. There's also instructions for making custom press molds out of bluestuff/oyumaru. Once you have the mold, it's easy to make lots of similar flagstone or tile bases at once.

If you found the right source objects you could even make a mold out of some sort of gothic or medieval bits.
