Strip or layer Wraithbone over dark primer.

Bit of an odd question. I primed the majority of my Guard models grey before I learned about the Contrast paints. I want to use the Blood Angels Red paint for the clothing of these Guardsmen to save time, but the grey undercoat would obviously make that look bad. I've already put a base color on the boots, the rifles, and the armor. Which would be faster: stripping the models and using the Wraithbone primer? Or trying to layer Wraithbone, which might take two coats? Or would it just be faster to paint the clothing the traditional way?

Probably best to wait, get the red contrast and try it out. May actually work out well with 2 coats for "dried blood" dirty red. If that works, awesome. If not, try another with a Wraithbone zenithal. Test, assess and adjust.
It's always a bit heartbreaking to backtrack. Try the least invasive method first and go from there.
Good luck!

I am still assuming that you need to prime the models, then basecoat them in grey sear or wraithbone.

Especially as the paints are listed as base paints, not primers, but GW dont seem to show priming, although they do mention it, and certainly their guides that come with part of the Conquest magazine done do priming at all.
