Genestealers on a Chaos world

Now, infecting a daemon world probably wouldn't work due to a) the Warp-based biology of daemons probably could not be infected by the Genestealer virus due to its purely material nature and b) with the possible exception of Chronos, a Hivefleet most likely could not sustain itself on much daemonic essence, and any wildlife or Chaos spawn present would probably not be enough to make an invasion worth the time and energy.

I will say though, an army of Genestealer daemons could make for a fascinating story.

On a more 'normal' Chaos world, however, such as one either conquered by CSM or having been out of the grip of the Imperium for centuries if not millennia, that might be a different story. A Chaos Forgeworld, for example, would most likely be teeming with humans, albeit at least partially corrupt humans, which would be easy prey for Genestealers and would provide tons of nourishment for a Hivefleet. Moreover, the Shadow in the Warp could negate any Chaos abilities that could potentially kill the virus, allowing the disease to spread. However, there would be problems as well. In a world flooded with the Warp, any spots devoid of Warp energy will be noticed. That same Shadow could attract the attention of sorcerers and other psykers, alerting them to the fact that something was wrong. Also, much of the Genestealer propaganda, which often revolves around how the Tyranids will 'liberate' the people from the corrupt Imperium and the 'long dead emperor,' would not work. Maybe they could promise liberation from the tyranny from the Ruinous Powers and their servants, but this could be more difficult, as the Chaos gods open and active manipulation of and intervention in the affairs of mortals is different from the more subtle influence of the Emperor. Even with the virus taking over people's minds, there could be a great tug of war between the Genestealer influence and the constant visible manifestations of the gods' will. When Khorne sends his Flesh Hounds after you, for example, you simply cannot deny his existence. Moreover, the Shadow created by a Genestealer hive mind is often considerably weaker than that created by a Hivefleet, and powerful psykers like Lords of Change and Thousand Sons Exalted Sorcerers might be able to go into someone's mind and root out the infection. Or what if Nurgle created a potent disease that could combat the virus? A Genestealer cult might be able to succeed, but they would have to heavily adapt their tactics to their new surroundings, and creating enough cultists to spark an uprising and send out the signal to call in a Hivefleet would most definitely be an uphill battle, far more so than on an Imperial world. Heck, even if they did succeed at this, the signal might be blocked by the gods or even simply the Warp miasma surrounding the planet.

What do you think?

Genestealers on a Chaos world

I think a Slaaneshi Cult and a Genestealer Cult working together would be a force to be reckoned with; it's why I picked them as the principle antagonists in a campaign I'm putting together.

A potential host will fear a genestealer, but if you are a sado masochistic alien fetishist, you'd likely WANT to experience the genestealer kiss. Once you're infected, you can only further the objective of growing the cult via procreation.... And did I mention Slaanesh?

What if a Slaaneshi bent rogue psyker gets the genstealer kiss. Now you've got a psychic hybrid IN THE FIRST GENERATION. Normally, a cult has to wait till the fourth!

What if said psyker's dark inheritance inhibits the natural cycle and allows any his/ her offspring a chance to be born as a magus rather than a neophyte?

What if the Slaanesh psychic activity masks the signal to the tyranids, allowing the cult to grow forever?

A self aware patriarch who realized that the arrival of the tyranids would mean the end of his children might make such a deal willingly to prevent their arrival.

I'm pretty sure the original genestealer cult article in White Dwarf had photos of a small cult warband that was connected to chaos, though I think their cult was khorne. I found some images from the article online but they were small and I couldn't see for sure.I think there were more pictures in the article.

Anyway, lots of crossover potential.Purestrains and daemonettes and fiends, all rushing the front with a battery of looted basilisks and manticores hammer at the overwatch gunlines or hard targets.

Chitter chitter chitter BOOM!

Genestealers on a Chaos world

And allying with chaos was a common thing to happen.

Slaanesh imagery has similarities to genestealers; lack of hair, clawed hands (daemonettes)... Keepers of Secrets take it a step closer with their four arms; two clawed, two with hands! Both geneatealers and Slaanesh psychics tend to orientate around mind control too.
