But I just recently started painting with them on GW models, which don't come primed.

I've noticed that with several types of primer, acrylic and the such. These paints just go on way too thin and into several small cases. Like with two squads of Scouts that I just started on, they almost entirely drip, or glide off the primer.

To alleviate this I've been using the white primer that comes from the Game Color brand.

Also, I'm not a fan of the Game Color paints because the additives in them make behave a little strangely. The other solution is basically change over to Vallejo's Model colour range, which(apart from one or two naff ones) tend to give a lot more overall coverage. If you are having issue with your VGC paints, maybe they sat too long on a shelf somewhere or were exposed to extreme heat or cold and have gone bad. I assume you throughoutly mixed them, to counter any separation that may have occured.
VGC goes without hassle over Vallejo airbrush primer, other airbrush primers and of course over Citadel and Tamiya primers.

I use paints from all of Vallejo's lines. Primary reasons for me are:
a) A consistent paint lined directly from a manufacturer rather than the varying paint lines sold by GW over the years.
b) Vallejo paints come in dropper bottles rather than the stupid pots Citadel paints are shipped in.
