Problem with Game Color paints

I've been painting with these paints for a while now, a little over a year to be exact.
I use them mostly on bones & reaper miniatures. But I just recently started painting with them on GW models, which don't come primed.

I've noticed that with several types of primer, acrylic and the such. These paints just go on way too thin and into several small cases. Like with two squads of Scouts that I just started on, they almost entirely drip, or glide off the primer.

To alleviate this I've been using the white primer that comes from the Game Color brand.

But I'd really like to know if there is any better alternative.

Problem with Game Color paints

I had this problem with a spray can of primer. It didn't matter which brand of paints I tried to use over the top of it, the surface was just too glossy and the paint would run off. I fixed it with a light coat of matt spray and got rid of the primer.

Also, I'm not a fan of the Game Color paints because the additives in them make behave a little strangely. Maybe you could try a bottle of Model Color and see if that works better for you.

Re:Problem with Game Color paints

These paints can be a pain in the proverbial. The only solutions I've found are either priming the models then going over them with a foundation paint(vallejo's 'heavy' range are good)which will give a good surface for the paint to grip. Also invest in some glass beads or stainless steel ball bearings for the game paint.

The other solution is basically change over to Vallejo's Model colour range, which(apart from one or two naff ones) tend to give a lot more overall coverage. I have both Game colour and model colour and to be honest I use the Model range because I know they are reliable whereas I only use Game colour in the later stages of painting models.

Re:Problem with Game Color paints

I use game color and citadel paint interchangeably, which shouldn't be a surprise, since both are made for the same purpose.

If you are having issue with your VGC paints, maybe they sat too long on a shelf somewhere or were exposed to extreme heat or cold and have gone bad. I assume you throughoutly mixed them, to counter any separation that may have occured.
VGC goes without hassle over Vallejo airbrush primer, other airbrush primers and of course over Citadel and Tamiya primers.

I use paints from all of Vallejo's lines. Primary reasons for me are:
a) A consistent paint lined directly from a manufacturer rather than the varying paint lines sold by GW over the years.
b) Vallejo paints come in dropper bottles rather than the stupid pots Citadel paints are shipped in.
