So I'm trying to get a gore red base to slowly fade into a skull white highlight.
I've tried basing the models gore red and drybrushing them with whites (see attached pictures), but it doesn't look very good.


Is there a way to base the model white and then do a gore red wash, and then drybrushing a little to get highlights?

I think what you are after could be achieved by using really thin paint over a zenithal grey/white primer, or over white primer washed with black. Or maybe contrast paint but I don't have much experience with these.

It's unlikely to result in a true fade though and it's tricky with red as it has a tendency to go pink when applied very thin to white.
