Knights of Kalvan - Custodes/Primaris conversion army

Hello everyone! I have not played a game of 40k since 5th edition and about a year ago had to sell all of my hobby supplies and models in a move. Since then I have been really wanting to assemble and paint some of the new 40k models and play a few games. I am on a budget and lack extra bits, the best solution I found was to get the know no fear starter box and a box of custodians and wardens. I came up with a 1500 point list that uses almost every part from the boxes and there was few other ways to do this. I have just finished basically assembling 16 of 19 models I will be making. I am very happy how the models are turning out so far and think they will look amazing when I clean them up and through some paint on them. The thing is I don't have any paint or brushes yet! But for now to budget money I am not buying an of that until the modeling is done, have had far many to projects sit there 6 months untouched staring at me.

So I will start out with the HQ's, there are only 3 fully custodes models in this army, the rest at least having an arm converted from the primaris marines.
Shield Captain with spear and will be the warlord with eagle eye and probably impenetrable mind most of the time until I move up to 2500 points

My Stand in for Valoris, directing the army with his watchers axe and swag cape, this cape is actually only meant for a knife arm which is disappointing and most of that arm is holding onto a blob of green stuff that is his shoulder

Shield Captain in Allarus with axe and will be taking the oblitarium relic to be super scary, made from the gravis armor captian

Next up is Elties! Vexillas and Wardens!
The first vexilla is the +1A, with the screaming primaris face, both are packing storm shields and misc, I always want these buffs to be around if possible.

The second vexilla is called John Cenius, holder of the -1 to hit banner, he is known to scream "You cant see me" while waving his storm shield up and down in front of his face.

Then the Wardens which I call Paladins, holding their axes and misc knifes ready to shank fools that survive the axing. They stand there solid like statues thinking of the best ways to stab their enemies.

This yet to be named warden is known as buzz kill, thinking his axe is scary enough for the enemy, his brothers thinking otherwise while holding their fancy knifes.

Next up is the Troops! Now I had a few extra custodian bodies and I found out torso swapping is a nightmare so I kept the whole bodies and decided to do leg swaps so they were an in between the primaris knights and the full blown paladins and custodian models
There is one for each squad, that I can knight commandants, like veteran sergeants who have yet to be promoted to the paladin companies of the knights. In game they get no special stats, they just look super cool. One with a spear, shield and one with bolt caliver.
I love how the poses worked out with these and feel they add a lot of character, of squad leaders looking across the battle field for their next prey.

Here are the knights, the shock troops of the knights of kalvan, and the first time the initiates of the chapter leave their fortress monastery training in power armor armong their brothers, 2 spears and swords n boards. I really like the bulky look of the models and like them more
than the regular custodians (I think the spears and shields look weird with their poses when they have no capes or tabards like wardens do). These are have the most primaris parts and were some of the most time consuming conversions.

Now here are the most interesting and in depth conversion for the troops. I combined the hellblaster and bolter to make the bolt caliver. These will clean up more when I have more time to fix mistakes when I make the 3 others. These guys are called Dragoons and the alternative
to becoming a knight with a spear or shield. In the end I will have a squad of 5. I would have to buy more bitz just for a 6th to make 2 3 an squads, which dont fit in my lists. In my 2500 list I even trim off one so the squad becomes 4. I hate the spikes on the weapons, and decided they make good helmets for these guys and actually kind of copy the forgeworld look.

Here is a shot of the full army so far, minus the last 3 Sagittarum I have to make. I plan on finishing the models by tomorrow, but painting and further modeling might take some more time.

So if you have made it this far I wanted to add some fluff to kind of explain this army a bit. They are a chapter called the Knights of Kalvan located in the middle of the Imperium. They were founded about 5000 years ago and were like a normal chapter for the most part. They then decided to turn their fortress monastery into a giant trading post and training center with dueling cages and mazes. They send out their marines in small bands to uphold their oaths and vows in every corner of the Imperium. They train some of the best duelist in the galaxy meant for one purpose, to destroy the enemy commander and command squad, then retreat from the battle before they can be swarmed down. They usually only appear for moments in a battle, only to disappear after slaying the warlord of the enemy. They will then go and trade relics or favors with some of the most powerful generals and lords in the Imperium for their service. Since the primaris marines have been a thing, the knights have been calling in favors to re arm their warriors and slowly send off veterans to the best medical facilities in the galaxy to under go primaris surgery at much better survival rates. Almost every marine carries a power weapon or rare relic, though their monastery is almost empty of relics and is rarely attacked due to its fortified nature. The chapter works a lot like the black templars, veteran marines will have recruits train under them forming small squads that act independent on the battle field. The chapter almost never deploys in any strength, most of their veterans off in all corners of the galaxy with a handful of marines. Their fortress in space is mecca of trading ships and small frigates, giving them access to the best artificers and supplies from the best traders around, and transportation for their vows. Most recruits that survive basic surgery and testing, spend the next few decades learning almost every dueling weapon of war in the mazes and dueling cages of the monastery, never leaving and forming the guards and wardens of the monastery while most of the knights and paladins are away. Any enemy foolish enough to attack this place will soon be lost and under attack from every angle, no all from astartes either... After that marines get their plate and become knights that serve under knight commandents. The Knights of Kalvian have 2 companies of knights, 1 of dragoons, 2 of paladins that can deploy as either allarus or raptor suits (jetbikes), and the whole first company being made up of paladin lords of various positions, each like a captain from another chapter in their own right, some are meant to be master duelists, while others lead the company. After you become a knight commandant you start getting access to relic eagle armor, which is finally completed and customized to you as a lord of the chapter.

This is a 1500 point list that I will make to 2500 with only 11 more models. Im making 3 aggressors and allarus upgrade bits to make aqulion terminators with solar gauntlets and firepikes with the missle counting as destroyer if I want, the inceptors will be turned into jetbikes with lightning claws, sanguinary guard wings, the belt feeds form the aggressors, and more. And turning 4 rievers into the 4 different assassins, which will give me 2500 points. This will give me a 1st company of marines that wont be pure custodies and have some unique conversions.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy and get new ideas for your own hobby. Till next time and feel free to ask any questions. Next time I will hopefully have them cleaned up and maybe primed. It just shows the conversions a lot better at this point. Cheers!
