I quite like the bottom one as well, but what about a darker grey on the main body of the gun rather than just black? Would give the model overall a kind of urban camo.look.

As for the guns technically the bottom one is dark grey rather than black as it’s a black grey but your right it’s probably still too dark

Quick attempt before work (please excuse the paint coverage, taking these images has let me know i need better lighting where i paint !)
